Game One - Springfield 6, MCLA 4
Ryan Sorgi (Braintree, Mass.) and Cadin Maynard (Waterford, Conn.) each accounted for two hits, with Maynard crossing the plate twice to highlight the Pride's efforts at the plate in the opener. Blake Roberge (Warwick, R.I.) was credited with the win after scattering six hits over five innings and striking out four and Jack DeGirolamo (Newington, Conn.) came in to seal the victory with a three-out save where he stuck out a pair.
MCLA jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening inning as they took advantage of consecutive walks to lead off the frame, only to have the Pride answer back in the bottom half with Sorgi's single to left center driving in Maynard, who had laced a two-out double. The teams traded runs in the second before Springfield tied it up at 4-4 in the third following a run-scoring triple by Sorgi and a RBI single from Kevin Gower (Seekonk, Mass.).
In the fourth, Springfield put the game away as Michael Barrett (Longmeadow, Mass.) cracked a run-scoring triple down the line to plate Joe Traversa (Pittsfield, Mass.) and Maynard followed with a sacrifice fly to make it a 6-4 ballgame. Christian Peterson (Bristol, Conn.) and DeGirolamo closed the door on the game as each pitched a strong inning of relief en route to the game-one victory.
Game Two - Springfield 8, MCLA 6
Ryan Sorgi (Braintree, Mass.) and Michael Lepere (Beacon, N.Y.) totaled four of Springfield's 10 hits and Connor Caverly (South Berwick, Maine) provided the Pride with four solid innings on the mound to earn the win.
The Pride struck with two outs in the first inning for the game's first run when Lepere connected on a single to score Maynard, who started the rally with a two-out double. After MCLA tied it up in the second, Springfield added three more runs in the bottom half as it again made the most of its opportunities with two outs, getting a run-scoring single from Michael Barrett (Longmeadow, Mass.) and a two-run base knock by Sorgi up the middle.
Springfield tacked on two more runs in the third, but a bases-clearing triple in the fourth allowed MCLA to pull within 6-4. Sorgi then scored in the fourth and would drive in Traversa from second in the fifth to push Springfield's advantage back to 8-4.
MCLA made one final push, getting two runs across with no outs in the seventh, but DeGiorlamo came through again in a big spot, getting a strike out with the winning run at the plate to complete the sweep.
