Box Score Springfield, Mass. - April 1, 2023 - The Springfield College women's lacrosse team cruised to a 20-1 victory over Mount Holyoke in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest at Stagg Field Saturday.
Springfield is now 5-4, 2-1 against conference opponents and Mount Holyoke dipped to 3-6, 0-2.
Lauren Landino (South Windsor, Conn.) totaled a game-high four points on two goals and two helpers, while Abby Taylor (Cumberland Foreside) and Arielle Johnson (Woodstock, Conn.) each added three points and Liz Neri (Farmington, Conn.) tacked on three goals. Gianna Scialdone (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) picked up seven draw controls and Emily McDermott (Marshfield, Mass.) and Haley Moody (Wells, Maine) combined for three saves on the afternoon.
The Pride set the tone early as it outshot the visitors by a 21-0 margin in the opening 15 minutes of play and found the back of the cage 11 times. Springfield added four more goals in the second quarter en route to a 15-0 halftime edge. A goal from Neri with 3:30 left in the third pushed Springfield's lead to 16-0 before Emi Bisson was able to convert for the Lyons for their lone goal of the game at the 1:12 mark.
Springfield registered four goals in the final quarter of play, with Holly Raniolo's (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) man-down strike with 2:12 remaining in regulation closing out the scoring with the Pride's 20th goal of the game.
Springfield will play again on Sunday when it hosts Western Connecticut State at 1 pm.
