Box Score Springfield, Mass. - April 8, 2023 - The Springfield College women's lacrosse team eased their way to a 22-4 win against Emerson in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) tilt at Stagg Field Saturday.
Springfield is now 7-5, 3-1 against conference opponents and Emerson fell to 3-8, 1-3.
Arielle Johnson (Woodstock, Conn.) delivered three goals and four assists for a game-high seven points, while Bella Cardaropoli (Palmer, Mass.) produced four goals and two points off the bench and Lauren Landino (South Windsor, Conn.) contributed three goals and three assists of her own. Gianna Scialdone (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) netted a hat trick to go along with five draw controls and Emily McDermott (Marshfield, Mass.) made two saves to earn the win on goal. For the game, Springfield held a 44-12 advantage in shots and an 18-10 edge in draw controls.
Hannah Hibbert (Center Harbor, N.H.) won the opening draw and raced to the cage for an unassisted strike just 13 seconds into the before Isabella Mazzi (Niantic, Conn.) followed with a goal from Johnson just over 40 seconds later to give the Pride a 2-0 edge inside the opening minute. Johnson would register the 100th point of her career at 4:04 as she finished a Mazzi pass to give the Pride a 7-1 edge, and Landino would close out the scoring in the opening 30 minutes of play as Springfield owned a 12-2 advantage at the break.
Springfield received goals from six different goal scorers in the third to extend its cushion to 18-3, highlighted by a behind-back-strike from Johson at the 7:38 mark, and Lyndsey DeLasho (Croton on Hudson, N.Y.) scored in the waning seconds for her third marker of the game as Springfield earned the 22-4 win.
Springfield continues conference play on Wednesday when it heads to Clark for a 7 pm contest.
