Box Score Worcester, Mass. - September 23, 2023 - The Springfield College men's soccer team remained unbeaten in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play and picked up their fourth clean sheet of the season as the Pride and Clark University played to a scoreless draw at Granger Field.
Springfield moved to 2-3-2 overall (1-0-1 NEWMAC), while Clark pushed its record to 2-3-3 (0-1-1 NEWMAC).
Today's matchup was even statistically as Springfield held a slight 16-15 edge in shots, while both teams only had two corner kick opportunities apiece. Both Springfield keeper Noah Pote (Washington, Conn.) and Clark netminder Andrew DiStefano made three stops in the 0-0 draw.
Springfield had a couple of early looks at net including a shot by Chris Cruz (Greenwich, Conn.) that was stopped by DiStefano in the eighth minute and a header by Tristan Moran (Weehawken, N.J. ) that hit the crossbar in the ninth minute of play.
Early in the second, Maitoe Suppasuesanguan (Bangpongpang, Yannawa, Bangkok) hit the crossbar less than a minute into play and the Pride forced DiStefano to stop the ball twice over the final 45 minutes as the contest finished scoreless.
Pote earned his fourth shutout in seven games this fall, which ranks tied for second in the NEWMAC in 2023.
Springfield will return to the pitch on Tuesday, September 26 in a road matchup at Framingham State University at 7:00 pm.
