Medford, Mass. - January 13, 2024 - The Springfield College men's track and field team finished second among four teams this afternoon at the Tufts Jumbo Invitational.
The host Jumbos won the meet with 283.5 points, while the Pride took second with 114 points. UMass Dartmouth followed with 60 points and Rhode Island College rounded out the field with 41.5Â points.
On the track, Springfield went 1-2 in the 60-meter dash as senior Dante Lingley (Westbrook, Maine) finished first in 6.943-seconds and senior Evan Weber (Purchase, N.Y.) took second in 6.948-seconds. Junior Joe Wong (Salem, Mass.) and graduate student Adam Mula (Devens, Mass.) went 1-3 in the mile with times of 4:22.73 and 4:31.70, respectively.
First-year Mike Anderson (Cromwell, Conn.) posted a runner-up finish in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.77-seconds, while the 4x400-meter relay team of Weber, junior Anik Dole (Dubai, UAE), senior Anthony Penta (Southington, Conn.) and Lingley finished third in 3:36.61. First-year Colin Hansen (Ipswich, Mass.) rounded out the highlights for Springfield on the track with a fourth place finish in the 400-meter dash in 52.48-seconds.
In the field events, first-year Patrick Dahm (Feeding Hills, Mass.) had the best finish for Springfield with a third place finish in the triple jump as he posted a mark of 11.59-meters (38 feet, 0.25 inches). Sophomore Daniel Hyde (Monroe, Conn.) cleared 1.90-meters (6 feet, 2.75 inches) for fourth in the high jump, while first-year Connor Daley (West Springfield, Mass.) posted a best toss of 12.25-meters (40 feet, 2.25 inches) for fourth in the shot put.
Springfield will return home and host the Massasoit Classic on Saturday, January 20 inside the Springfield Field House beginning at 10:30 am. The Pride will welcome Bridgewater State, Westfield State, Worcester State and Hampshire College to Springfield for the meet.
