It was in track & field, however, where Larkins etched his name into history. Specializing in the shot put, he became one of the most dominant throwers in NCAA Division III history. Over his collegiate career, he earned five All-America honors, including four during the indoor season—an extraordinary testament to his consistency and elite performance on the national stage.

His defining moment came in 1999 at the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships. With focus, strength, and precision, Larkins delivered a throw of 56 feet, 2 inches, not only claiming the national title but also setting a facility record at Ohio Northern—a mark that symbolized his arrival as the best in the country.

But he wasn't finished. In 2000, Larkins reached even greater heights, launching the shot put 58 feet, 8.5 inches to set a Springfield College record that still stands today—a lasting benchmark of excellence for future generations.

Closer to home, he dominated the regional stage as a three-time New England Division III Indoor Shot Put Champion, reinforcing his status as one of the premier athletes in the region and the nation.

Yet, like all great stories, Larkins' legacy extends far beyond his own competition. After graduation, he carried his passion for sport into coaching, joining the staff at Bloomfield High School in both track & field and football. There, he transformed programs, built champions, and inspired countless young athletes.

As a football coach and on the track, Larkins achieved extraordinary success—earning Connecticut Coach of the Year honors, leading his team to three state championships, compiling 148 career wins, and guiding his program to six-consecutive state finals appearances. His teams became a standard of excellence, defined by discipline, preparation, and heart.

Under his leadership, Bloomfield athletes captured more than 100 combined indoor and outdoor track and field championships, including multiple record-setting title streaks—an incredible testament to sustained excellence and program-building at the highest level.

From a standout student-athlete to a championship-winning coach, Damian Larkins has dedicated his life to elevating those around him. His story is one of achievement, leadership, and lasting influence.
