Springfield, Mass. - April 12, 2026 - The Springfield College men's track and field team participated in both the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College and the UMass Commonwealth Invitational hosted by UMass Amherst which saw some of the top competition from New England across all three divisions.
At the Silfen Invitational, Shane Erb (Marion, Iowa) led Springfield with a sixth place finish in the 5000-meter run at 14:45.04. Slade Harding (Malden, Mass.) finished eighth in the 1500-meter run as he crossed the finish line at 4:09.81 and Elijah Quinn (Holyoke, Mass.) competed in the 10,000-meter run, finishing at 34.01.00.
At the UMass Commonwealth Invitational, Mike Anderson (Cromwell, Conn.) won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.18 which currently sits fifth in Division III. In the 400-meter hurdles, Simon Diaz (Shelton, Conn.) finished with a time of 58.07.
Colin Hansen (Ipswich, Mass.) came in third in the 400-meter dash at 48.61 and also finished seventh in the 200-meter dash at 22.21. Luca Kabel (Merrimack, N.H.) led Springfield in the 100-meter dash, finishing with a time of 11.13. Harding led the Pride in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:03.65 while Ty Sanges (Goversville, N.Y.) competed in the 1500-meter run and finished with a time of 4:18.48.
Alex McKenney (Ossining, N.Y.) finished tenth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.16-meters. Mitchell Krasco (Orange, Mass.) and Daniel McGlashan (Haverhill, Mass.) finished third and fourth in the triple jump with marks of 14.09-meters and 14.00-meters while Declan Costello (Baldwin, N.Y.) led the Pride in the long jump with a mark of 6.15-meters.
In the throwing events, Martin Nyagilo (Randolph, Mass.) and Peyton Blanchard (Kennebunk, Maine) finished ninth and tenth in the shot put with throws of 14.43-meters and 14.33-meters, respectively. Christopher Clark (Chicopee, Mass.) came in fifth with a mark of 52.29-meters in the javelin throw as Azaiah Nanson (Blue Hill, Maine) finished eighth with a throw of 48.22-meters. Blanchard also led the Pride with a mark of 40.34-meters in the discus throw as Matthew Krysinski (Thompson, Conn.) finished with a mark of 36.31-meters in the hammer throw.
Springfield will head to the Trinity Invitational in Hartford, Conn. on Saturday.
