North Dartmouth, Mass. - March 28, 2026 - The Springfield College men's track and field team competed in the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic to open up the 2026 outdoor track and field season.
Peyton Blanchard (Kennebunk, Maine) and Josh Stevens (Pittsfield, Mass.) finished sixth and seventh in the hammer throw with marks of 43.82-meters and 43.79-meters, respectively. Charles Botelho (Middleboro, Mass.) finished 11th with a throw of 40.15-meters as Nick Meisenkothen (Durham, Conn.) finished 13th at 39.47-meters.
Christopher Clark (Chicopee, Mass.) registered a third place finish in the javelin throw with a mark of 49.72-meters as Bryce Ray (Dayton, Maine) and Blanchard finished sixth and seventh in the shot put by marks of 13.95-meters and 13.53-meters, respectively. Brandon Sumpter (Montrose, N.Y.) came in fifth in the discus throw with a mark of 40.24-meters while Blanchard threw 40.03-meters for seventh.
Alex McKenney (Ossining, N.Y.) finished third in the pole vault with a mark of 4.00-meters while Mateo Garcia (Bolton, Conn.) came in fifth with a mark of 3.25-meters. Garcia also competed in the triple jump, coming in fifth with a jump of 11.41-meters and Jeffrey Gao (Cambridge, Mass.) competed in the high jump, with a mark of 1.67-meters.
Patrick Dahm (Feeding Hills, Mass.) recorded a third place finish in the long jump after registering a jump of 6.09-meters as Declan Costello (Baldwin, N.Y.) jumped 5.94-meters for sixth place. Jack Urrunaga (Berlin, Conn.) came in tenth with a mark of 5.43-meters.
In a field of 50 runners, Shane Erb (Marion, Iowa) came in second in the 1500-meter run in 4:00.50 as Slade Harding (Malden, Mass.) finished 11th, crossing the finish line in 4:14.40. Ty Sanges (Gloversville, N.Y.) led Springfield in the 5000-meter run coming in at 16:46.36.
The Pride will host the SC Classic on Saturday at 10:30 am.
