Men's Track and Field Finishes Third at Trinity Invitational

Hartford, Conn. - April 19, 2026 - The Springfield College men's track and field team finished third at the Trinity Invitational on Saturday afternoon in its last regular season meet of the season before the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) begin on Friday afternoon. 

RPI won the meet with 144 points and was followed by WPI (109), Springfield (102), Wesleyan (86) and Trinity (80) to round out the top five. 

Ty Sanges (Gloversville, N.Y.) finished third in the 5000-meter run at 16:00.05 before Harry Yablon (Bellport, N.Y.) came in seventh  at 16:14.22 and Gabe Schaeffer (Sellinsgrove, Pa.) finished tenth at 16:43.64. Shane Erb (Marion, Iowa) ran a 3:56.37 in the 1500-meter run for third place. Slade Harding (Malden, Mass.) led Springfield in the 800-meter run at 1:59.58 as Jeremiah Singer (Barnstable, Mass.) followed finishing at 1:59.82. 

Mike Anderson (Cromwell, Conn.) won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.45 which is currently the 21st time in the country this season as Ben Cachiguango (Amherst, Mass.) came in fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.02.

Colin Hansen (Ipswich, Mass.) won the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.99 which sits at 35th in the country ass Parker Ruger (Rhinebeck, N.Y.) finished in 50.41. Luca Kabel (Merrimack, N.H.) crossed the finish line at 11.19 for sixth place in the 100-meter finals and Kabel also finished ninth in the 200-meter dash at 22.26.

In the 4x400-meter relay, the team of Ruger, Hansen, Caleb March (Hampden, Maine) and Tyler Fabbri (Andover, Mass.) placed second finishing at 3:23.46 while the mixed 4x400-meter relay featuring Cachiguango, Julia Romano (Braintree, Mass.), Mackenzie DiDonato (Thomaston, Conn.) and Hansen won the event with a time of 3:53.11. 

In a four-way tie for first, Jamil Manu (Manchester, Conn.) won the high jump with a mark of 1.87 and Daniel Hyde (Monroe, Conn.) tied for fifth with a jump of 1.82-meters.

In the long jump, four student-athletes for Springfield finished within the top ten as Daniel McGlashan (Haverhill, Mass.) and Patrick Dahm (Feeding Hills, Mass.) led the group with a jump of 6.23-meters for a third place tie. Manu came in eighth with a mark of 6.07-meters and Alexis Ramos (Southbridge, Mass.) finished tenth with a mark of 5.77-meters. Mitchell Krasco (Orange, Mass.) won the triple jump with a mark of 14.09-meters and Alex McKenney (Ossining, N.Y.) placed third in the pole vault with a mark of 4.30-meters. 

In the throwing events, Peyton Blanchard (Kennebunk, Maine) and Josh Stevens (Pittsfield, Mass.) finished ninth and tenth in the hammer throw with marks of 43.30-meters and 43.18-meters, respectively. Blanchard went on to finish seventh in the shot put with a throw of 13.34-meters and eighth in the discus throw with a mark of 42.42-meters. Bryce Ray (Dayton, Maine) placed third in the shot put with a throw of 13.69-meters while Josh Stevens (Pittsfield, Mass.) finished ninth with a throw of 13.08-meters. Christopher Clark (Chicopee, Mass.) and Azaiah Nanson (Blue Hill, Maine) tied for fifth in the javelin throw with a mark of 49.74-meters. 

The Pride will head to the NEWMAC Championships on Friday at 2:00 pm at Coast Guard.
