Boston, Mass. – January 26, 2024 – The Springfield College men's track and field team competed at the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic today and was led in performance by junior
Joe Wong (Salem, Mass.) in the 800-meter run.
Wong was the third fastest Division III student-athlete in the field of 182 runners as he posted a time of 1:54.03, which should rank him inside the top-20 nationally in the event after today's meets across the country. First-year
Tyler Knaggs (Scotia, N.Y.) followed Wong in the 800-meter run in 1:58.11.
Springfield had seven entries in the 200-meter dash and was paced by senior
Evan Weber (Purchase, N.Y.) was the fastest Division III athlete to complete the race as he finished ninth overall in 21.91-seconds, which will put him just outside the top-20 times in the country. Weber was followed by junior
Michael Scott (Shoreview, Minn.) in 21.93, senior
Dante Lingley (Westbrook, Maine) in 22.03, junior
Anik Dole (Dubai, UAE) in 22.51, junior
Giovanni Henrickson (Chelsea, Mass.) in 22.61,
senior Anthony Penta (Southington, Conn.) in 23.06 and senior
Brenden Brown (Lynn, Mass.) in 23.25.
In the 400-meter dash, first-year
Colin Hansen (Ipswich, Mass.) posted a time of 51.39, while sophomore
Connor Joyce (Hampden, Mass.) crossed the line in 53.32. First-
year Isaiah Hannah (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) finished the 60-meter hurdles in 8.80-seconds, graduate student
Adam Mula (West Townsend, Mass.) registered a time of 4:25.25 in the mile and senior
Christopher Vayda (Southampton, Mass.) rounded out the highlights for the men's track and field team on the first day of the John Thomas Terrier Classic with a time of 15:25.02 in the 5,000-meter run.
Springfield's women will have their shot at the track tomorrow on day two of the Terrier Classic at Boston University. Both squads will return to action next weekend at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational beginning on Saturday, February 3 at 10:00 am
