Boston, Mass. – January 27, 2024 – The Springfield College women's track and field team competed this afternoon on day two of the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University.
The sprinters turned in some impressive performances on one of the country's fastest tracks paced by senior
Stephanie Brown (Stafford Springs, Conn.) as she clocked a time of 26.62 in the 200-meter dash to finish as the third fastest Division III student-athlete in the field. Brown was followed by sophomore
Kaitlyn Doherty (Wilmington, Mass.) in 26.64 and senior
Gwen Andersen (Pawcatuck, Conn.) in 26.94.
Springfield had two entries in the 400-meter dash as senior
Maggie Donahue (East Hampton, Conn.) posted a time of 1:02.62 and was followed by junior
Julia Brillo (Ludlow, Mass.) in 1:02.74. Senior
Kate Bonanno (Ellington, Conn.) registered the fifth fastest Division III time in the 5,000-meter run in 18:34.62, while junior
Maddie Shea (Amherst, Mass.) posted the fifth fastest Division III time in the 3,000-meter run in 10:28.22.
Senior
Sam Stallard (Waldwick, N.J.) and first-year
Katherine DeFosse (Worcester, Mass.) represented Springfield in the 60-meter hurdles as Stallard clocked a time of 9.95 and DeFosse crossed the line in 9.36.
Senior
Sophie Curcio (New Canaan, Conn.) represented the Pride in the mile as she posted a time of 5:37.32 to round out tonight's highlights for Springfield.
Springfield will return to action next weekend at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational beginning on Saturday, February 3 at 10:00 am.
