Hartford, Conn. - April 19, 2026 - In its final regular season meet of the season before the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) begin on Friday, the Springfield College women's track and field team placed fifth at the Trinity Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Wesleyan won the meet with 116 points and was followed by RPI (105), Trinity (88), Hartford (82) and Springfield (78) to round out the top five.
Hannah McCarthy (Beverly, Mass.) led the Pride with an 11th place finish in the 5000-meter run with a time of 19.46.77 as Elisa Narain (Holden, Mass.) finished right behind her at 19:59.72. Kristina Kyle (Watertown, Conn.) finished the 800-meter run at 2:18.89 which was good for fifth while Leah Castle (XXX) came in eighth at 2:22.13. Brooke Ferrare (Waterbury, Conn.) led Springfield in the 1500-meter run finishing with a time of 5:01.91.
Katherine Defosse (Worcester, Mass.) won the 100-meter hurdles with the current number nine time in the country of 14.16 and also finished tenth in the 200-meter dash at 26.27. Mackenzie DiDonato (Thomaston, Conn.) finished ninth in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:09.37.
Sydney Meeks (Wynantskill, N.Y.) came in second in the 400-meter dash as she crossed the finish line at 57.82 while Ella Couchon (Windsor Locks, Conn.) placed sixth in the 100-meter dash crossing the finish line at 12.74.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Kyle, Kami Wlodyka (Three Rivers, Mass.), Taylor Desmarais (Berlin, Conn.) and Castle finished fourth, combining for a time of 4:28.64 as the mixed 4x400-meter relay featuring Ben Cachiguango (Amherst, Mass.), Julia Romano (Braintree, Mass.), DiDonato and Colin Hansen (Ipswich, Mass.) won the event with a time of 3:53.11.
In the throwing events, Charlotte Gerow (Tolland, Conn.) won the discus throw with a mark of 37.58-meters as Emma Barnes (Saco, Maine) came in fourth with a throw of 34.87-meters. Maggie Stevens (West Brookfield, Mass.) finished tenth in the javelin throw with a mark of 26.44-meters. Hannah Debian (West Springfield, Mass.) came in third place in the shot put with a throw of 11.98-meters as Barnes finished fifth with a mark of 11.22-meters. Debian came in fourth in the hammer throw with a mark of 45.17-meters as Madilynn Van Etten (Cumberland, R.I.) finished eighth with a throw of 40.13-meters.
Autumn Bacik (Watertown, Conn.) won the pole vault with a mark of 3.15-meters and also finished eighth in the long jump with a mark of 4.96-meters. Grace Flattery (Swansea, Mass.) finished second in the high jump with a mark of 1.58-meters and Emilee Pac (Colchester, Conn.) came in eighth with a jump of 1.43-meters.
The Pride will head to the NEWMAC Championships on Friday at 2:00 pm at Coast Guard.
