Springfield, Mass. - February 17, 2024 - Springfield College men's track and field first-year
Mike Anderson (Cromwell, Conn.) once again broke his own school record in the 60-meter hurdles as the Pride competed at the Triangle Classic hosted inside the Springfield Field House.
Anderson broke the record once in his prelim heat with a time of 8.32-seconds and then finished second overall in the event with a finals time of 8.30-seconds. The first-year eclipsed his mark of 8.35 that he set at the Bomber Invitational on February 3.
Springfield excelled in the sprints today as the Pride swept the top three spots in the 60-meter dash. Senior
Dante Lingley (Westbrook, Maine) won the event with a time of 6.90 and was followed by classmate
Evan Weber (Purchase, N.Y.) in second (6.94) and junior
Anik Dole (Dubai, UAE) in third (6.99). Senior
Sam Polley (Feeding Hills, Mass.) paced Springfield in the 400-meter dash with a win in 51.39 as he was followed in second by first-year
Colin Hansen (Ipswich, Mass.) in 51.89, in fourth by senior
Brady Cote (South Hadley, Mass.) in 53.21 and in fifth by sophomore
Tyler Fabbri (Andover, Mass.) in 53.38.
Weber also produced a first place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.10, which when converted to a banked track sits 20th in Division III this year. Dole was right behind Weber in second in 22.54, while Hansen took sixth in 23.31.
First-year
Tyler Knaggs (Scotia, N.Y.) led Springfield in the 600-meter dash with a fourth place finish in 1:24.83 and graduate student
Adam Mula (West Townsend, Mass.) finished sixth in the event in 1:26.36. Sophomore
Jeremiah Singer (Barnstable, Mass.) finished sixth in the 1000-meter run in 2:41.15.
Springfield's 4x400-meter relay team composed of Knaggs, Cote, Singer and Mula registered a first place time of 3:32.00 to round out the highlights on the track for the Pride today.
In the field events, sophomore
Daniel McGlashan (Haverhill, Mass.) was the runner-up in the triple jump with a best leap of 13.10-meters (42 feet, 11.75 inches), while sophomore
Jamil Manu (Manchester, Conn.) and first-year
Patrick Dahm (Feeding Hills, Mass.) finished third and fifth in the long jump with leaps of 6.69-meters (21 feet, 11.5 inches) and 6.17-meters (20 feet, 3 inches), respectively.
Sophomore
Daniel Hyde (Monroe, Conn.) posted a seventh place finish in the high jump with a clearance of 1.90-meters (6 feet, 2.75 inches). First-year
Connor Daley (West Springfield, Mass.) rounded out the highlights for the Pride with a 13th place finish in the shot put (11.74-meters - 38 feet, 6.25 inches) and a 15th place mark in the weight throw (12.23-meters - 40 feet, 1 inch).
Springfield will compete in the 2024 New England Division III Championships on Sunday, February 25 at 9:00 am at the Track at New Balance in Boston, Mass.
