Brockport, N.Y. – February 25, 2024 – The Springfield College women's gymnastics team traveled to Western New York and delivered their best score of the 2024 season in a tri-meet with Brockport and Ursinus. The Pride turned in a 189.625 for its highest mark of the year as Brockport posted a 193.700 and Ursinus tallied a 191.350.
Highlighting the meet was another record-breaking performance on the floor as the Pride broke the program record on the floor exercise with a team score of 48.775, besting the previous total of 48.700 which was set just last week. On the floor, both Julia Reer (Cedar Grove, N.J.) and Claire Geiger (Independence, Ky.) tied for fifth with a 9.775 and the duo of Sophia LeBlanc (Waltham, Mass.) and Stacy Taylor (Biddeford, Maine) each hit for 9.750's to tie for eighth.
On the beam, Springfield had a trio of student-athletes finish in the top seven and was led by Emma Skowronek (West Chester, Pa.) who tallied a 9.750. Kelly McGuinness (Groton, Mass.) and LeBlanc were credited with 9.725's and tied for seventh.
Annie Kiley (Taneytown, Md.) had a strong effort on the vault and tied for third with a 9.650, while Taylor notched a 9.400 and Geiger scored a 9.375. LeBlanc once again led the way on the uneven bars and placed third with a 9.600 and Ayako Maeda (Yokohama, Japan) registered a 9.450. Indiviudally, LeBlanc returned to the all-around competition and finished the afternoon with a 37.625.
Springfield concludes the regular season on Sunday when it hosts Ithaca at 1 pm.
