Ithaca, N.Y. – February 4, 2024 – The Springfield College women's gymnastics registered a season-best score this afternoon in a dual against Ithaca College on the road. Today, Springfield, under the direction of first-year head coach
Diana Gallagher, produced a score of 189.175 and was paced by graduate student
Sophia LeBlanc (Waltham, Mass.).
Ithaca clipped Springfield by a final score of 192.050-189.175 in today's dual. Last season, Springfield and the Bombers splits the two dual meets that were contested between the squads.
LeBlanc was Springfield's lone individual event winner as she tallied a score of 9.650 on the bars to edge out Kaylie Goodwin of Ithaca for the victory. Junior
Ayako Maeda (Yokohama, Japan) followed LeBlanc on the bars with a score of 9.450 on Springfield's first rotation of the day.
The Pride then moved to the Vault where sophomore
Sage Kaplan (Auburn, Mass.) finished fourth overall with a score of 9.650, while first-year
Ava Kelley (Mashpee, Mass.) finished sixth in the event with a score of 9.525 as Springfield's running score improved to 94.100.
On the floor exercise, sophomore
Stacy Taylor (Biddeford, Maine) registered a third place finish with a score of 9.775, while sophomore
Claire Geiger (Independence, Ky.) took fifth with a mark of 9.750.
Springfield produced its best team score of the balance beam with a combined mark of 47.675 to account for the 189.175 final tally for the Pride. On the beam, first-year
Emma Skowronek (West Chester, Pa.) took fourth overall with a score of 9.750 and Kaplan took fifth with a score o 9.700.
Springfield will return to action next weekend with a tri-meet at Southern Connecticut State University, a meet that will also feature Rhode Island College and begin at 1:00 pm.
