Springfield, Mass. - March 11, 2024 - After a strong start to the 2024 campaign, Springfield College's Ava Rainone (White Plains, N.Y.) was recognized as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Softball Athlete of the Week.

Rainone guided the Pride to two wins on its first day of the 2024 season with victories over Fredonia (11-0) and Haverford (4-3). The senior Sport Management major led Springfield with a .714 batting average, tallied a 1.464 OPS, scored three runs and was a perfect 4-for-4 on stolen bases in the season-opening doubleheader.

The Pride will play again on Monday afternoon when it takes on Wesleyan and St. Joseph's beginning at 4:15 pm.
