Springfield, Mass. - April 24, 2022 - For the first time in his career, Springfield College's Jake Degnan (Mahopac, N.Y.) garnered national attention for his efforts with the men's lacrosse program as he was one of 10 student-athletes from across the country selected to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) National Team of the Week.
Degnan registered 11 goals and three assists for 14 points in a 1-1 week for the Pride. On Saturday, Degnan recorded a career-high eight goals in addition to one assist as he powered Springfield to a 17-8 NEWMAC win over Salve Regina to push the Pride's conference winning streak to four. Prior to that, on Wednesday at No. 14 Wesleyan, Degnan tallied a team-best three goals and two assists in a setback to the Cardinals. This marks the first time that the Pride has had a national team of the week honor since Zac Schuette was honored twice in 2022.
Springfield (5-9, 4-2 NEWMAC) will host Wheaton College on Saturday, April 27 at 4:00 pm in the regular season finale for both teams.
