Springfield, Mass. – January 25, 2025 – The Springfield College men's track and field team came in first place at the 2025 Massasoit Classic held inside the Springfield Field House on Saturday afternoon.
Springfield produced 240 points for first, which landed the Pride ahead of Westfield State (134), Union (116), Castleton (36), UMass Boston (35) and Hampshire (7).
The horizontal jumpers highlighted the field events for the Pride today as
Patrick Dahm (Feeding Hills, Mass.) won the long jump with a best mark of 6.67-meters (21 feet, 10.5 inches), while
Daniel McGlashan (Haverhill, Mass.) won the triple jump with a best mark of 12.82-meters (42 feet, 0.75 inches).
Jamil Manu (Manchester, Conn.) and
Max Torres (Springfield, Mass.) both cleared 1.90-meters (6 feet, 2.75 inches) in the high jump.
Peyton Blanchard (Kennebunk, Maine) earned runner-up honors in the shot put with a best throw of 13.34-meters (43 feet, 9.25 inches), while
Charles Botelho (Middleboro, Mass.) came in third in the weight throw with a best mark of 13.43-meters (44 feet, 1 inch).
On the track, Springfield won six different events.
Mike Anderson (Cromwell, Conn.) finished first in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.33-seconds,
Giovanni Henrickson (Chelsea, Mass.) won the 60-meter dash in 7.05-seconds,
Christopher Vayda (Southampton, Mass.) won the mile in 4:32.70,
Jeremiah Singer (Barnstable, Mass.) won the 600-meter run in 1:26.64,
Colin Hansen (Ipswich, Mass.) won the 200-meter dash in 23.00-seconds and
Andrew Petropoulos (Williamstown, Mass.) won the 3,000-meter run in 9:27.71.
The Pride took 1-2-4 in the 200-meter dash as behind Hansen was Henrickson in 23.37-seconds and Anderson in 23.534-seconds.
Elijah Quinn (Holyoke, Mass.) was the fastest for the Pride in the 5,000-meter run as he placed third in 16:37.16, while
Sam Polley (Feeding Hills, Mass.) paced Springfield in the 400-meter dash with a second place finish in 52.21-seconds.
Springfield's 4x400-meter relay team of
Justin Jordaens (Yonkers, N.Y.), Singer,
Dan Cirella (Bethel, Conn.) and
Ty Sanges (Gloversville, N.Y.) placed second with a time of 3:41.30.
In the heptathlon,
Jeffrey Gao (Cambridge, Mass.) produced 3545 points for first place. Of the seven events, Gao won the high jump clearing 1.72-meters and the 60-meter hurdles in 9.32-seconds.
Springfield will travel next weekend to Boston University for the John Thomas Terrier Classic and to Wheaton for the Wheaton Invitational.
