Men's Volleyball Announces 2026 Schedule With Opener Set for January 16

Springfield, Mass. - October 10, 2025 - The Springfield College men's volleyball team alongside 2025 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Region I Coach of the Year Charlie Sullivan '91 G'97 officially announced the 2026 schedule which is set to open on January 16.

FULL SCHEDULE

The Pride will play a 25-game schedule along with three exhibitions matches at the beginning of the season. Six of Springfield's opponent's also reached the NCAA Tournament last spring including Baruch, NYU, Stevens, St. Joseph's (LI), Vassar and Wentworth. At the end of the season, Springfield was nationally-ranked No. 2 in the AVCA poll while NYU was No. 5, Stevens was No. 8, Vassar was No. 9, and Wentworth was No. 11. The Pride will also face New Paltz and Hobart who finished their seasons nationally-ranked 16th and 18th, respectively. 

A season ago, Springfield finished its season in the 2025 NCAA Division III National Championship match and was named the runner-up after falling to No. 2 Southern Virginia. The Pride were seeded fourth after earning an at-large bid and ended their season with 25 wins and just five losses. Springfield had four student-athletes named to the AVCA All-America teams and five AVCA All-Region I honorees including setter Dylan Mulvaney (Reston, Va.) who was named the AVCA Region I Player of the Year and FrogJump Volleyball National Setter of the Year.

The Pride start their season in California where they'll play in an exhibition match against Hope International (Calif.) and a regular season game against Concordia University Irvine on January 16. While on the West Coast, the team will play in two more exhibition matches against Orange Coast College and Vanguard (Calif.) on the 17th. Springfield will continue its road games as they take a trip to Baruch on January 23 and head to St. Joseph's (LI) on the 24th. They will open up at home with a match against Lasell on January 27 before ending the month with another home contest against Vassar on January 31.

Springfield will host the Morgan Classic on February 6 where they'll play Stevens before playing in a championship/consolation match against Drew or Hobart on the 7th. The Pride continues their stint at home with a game against New Paltz on February 11 and a match against Wentworth on February 14th. The team will travel to play Lasell on February 18 and then go to NYU on the 21st. Springfield will then host Rutgers-Newark on February 25 before heading to Vassar for a tri-match with Elmira on the 28th. 

The Pride will open up the month of March with an away match at New Paltz on the 4th before hosting a tri-match with Hunter and Elms on March 7. The Pride will then host Sage on March 10 before going on the road for three-straight games. Springfield will travel to MIT on March 12, Elms on the 23rd, and Sage on the 25th before hosting a tri-match on March 28 with St. Joseph's (LI) and Baruch. They'll close out the season on the road against Wentworth on April 1 and Hobart on April 5. 

Springfield will be the host site of the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball National Championship in Blake Arena from April 23-25. The first round of the tournament begins on April 16 and a champion will be crowned in Springfield, Mass. on April 25. 

This past summer, the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced that it will be sponsoring men's volleyball starting in the 2026-27 academic year. Four NEWMAC institutions currently sponsor varsity men's volleyball which includes Emerson, MIT, Springfield, and Wheaton while NYU, New Paltz, and Vassar will be joining as associate members.
