Providence, R.I. – February 15, 2025 – The Springfield College women's gymnastics team finished third of three teams at this morning's tri-meet held at Rhode Island College between the host Anchorwomen, the Pride and Cortland State.
Springfield produced a score of 184.975. Rhode Island College won the meet with a 191.875 and Cortland finished second with a 189.675.
Sage Kaplan (Auburn, Mass.) recorded a third place finish in the All Around competition with a score of 37.425 coming from marks of 9.650 on the floor, 9.400 on the vault and the uneven bars and 8.975 on the beam. Her score of 9.400 on the bars was highest for the Pride and eight best among 22 competitors.
Springfield registered a combined score of 48.375 on the floor besting both Cortland and Rhode Island College in the event.
Elsie Gardiner (Tucson, Ariz.) led the Pride with a 9.725,
Stacy Taylor (Biddeford, Maine) followed with a 9.700,
Delaney LaViolette (Holden, Mass.) posted a 9.675, Kaplan produced a 9.650 and
Julia Reer (Cedar Grove, N.J.) recorded a 9.625.
Springfield began the day on the bars as Kaplan posted a 9.400 and
Reagan Charlton (Bentonville, Ark.)record a 9.100 before moving to the beam.
Scarlette Ayakawa (Coppell, Texas) produced a 9.375 to lead Springfield on the beam and was followed by
Brenna Johnson (Plainfield, Conn.) with a 9.025.
The Pride finished the day on the vault with a combined score of 47.350. Taylor paced Springfield on the vault with a fourth place finish for a score of 9.625, while Charlton took ninth with a 9.575.
Springfield will host its final meet of the season on Sunday, February 23 at 1:00 pm against Rhode Island College and Southern Connecticut State.
