Springfield, Mass. – February 23, 2025 – The Springfield College women's gymnastics team celebrated senior day inside Blake Arena by producing a season-high score against Rhode Island College and Southern Connecticut State University on Sunday afternoon.
Springfield finished third with a season-best mark of 187.100, while Rhode Island College won the meet with a 192.725 and Southern Connecticut took second with a 190.600.
Sage Kaplan (Auburn, Mass.) registered a third place finish in the all around competition with a 36.300 as she individual tallied scores of 9.775 on the beam, 9.550 on the floor, 9.475 on the vault and a 7.500 on the uneven bars. Kaplan's 9.775 on the beam was good enough for second overall in the event only behind Emma Tucker of Rhode Island College, who tallied a 9.800.
Springfield began the day on the vault as
Stacy Taylor (Biddeford, Maine) led Springfield with a score of 9.550 for ninth place, while
Reagan Charlton (Bentonville, Ark.) and Kaplan tied for 15th with a score of 9.475.
In the next rotation when Springfield moved to the uneven bars,
Sarah Brownstein (Salt Lake City, Utah)registered a 9.250 for seventh, while
Ayako Maeda (Tokyo, Japan) took tenth with a 9.150. Kaplan and Charlton then led Springfield on the beam with scores of 9.775 and 9.675, respectively.
Scarlette Ayakawa (Coppell, Texas) also had a strong day on the beam turning in a 9.600.
The Pride produced its best overall team score on the floor exercise with a combined mark of 48.075 as
Elsie Gardiner (Tucson, Ariz.) and
Julia Reer (Cedar Grove, N.J.) tied for eighth with a 9.675, while
Maya Belog (Sturbridge, Mass.) finished tenth with a 9.625.
Springfield will round out its regular season on March 2 with a dual meet at Ithaca beginning at 1:00 pm.
