Springfield, Mass. – April 10, 2025 – In just the third meeting all-time between the two programs, the Springfield College women's tennis team picked up a 7-0 shutout win over Saint Joseph's University of Connecticut on Thursday afternoon on the Appleton Tennis Courts.
Springfield improved to 7-3, while Saint Joseph's fell to 11-6.
Springfield eased by the Blue Jays in doubles action as
Kapom Vettayawaikoon (Phuket, Thailand) and
Ramida Manataweewat (Bangkok, Thailand) picked up a 6-1 win at No. 1 before
Ava Shea (Belchertown, Mass.) and
Alysa Elliott (Gros-Islet, Saint Lucia) at No. 2 and
Kelly McGoldrick (Monroe, N.Y.) and
Natalia Peyon (Hong Kong) at No. 3 won by 6-2 finals.
In singles action, Springfield won all six matches in straight sets with no position losing more than three games. Manataweewat won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1, McGoldrick won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2, Shea won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3, Peyon won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4,
Grace Tyler (Longmeadow, Mass.) won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5 and
Emalee Chaisson (Belchertown, Mass.) won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6.
Springfield is scheduled to host Clark University in NEWMAC action on Saturday morning at 11:00 am.
