Hartford, Conn. – April 20, 2025 – The Springfield College women's track and field team produced a runner-up finish at the Trinity College Invitational and an 11th place finish among Division I competition at the UConn Northeast Challenge over the weekend.
At UConn,
Katherine DeFosse (Worcester, Mass.) recorded a seventh place finish in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.79, the fastest time in the NEWMAC this season as well as a 25th place finish in the 200-meter dash in 27.00.
On the track at Trinity,
Ella Couchon (Windsor Locks, Conn.) had the best finish for the Pride as she took sixth in the 200-meter dash in 25.96, while
Julia Brillo (Ludlow, Mass.) finished sixth in the 400-meter dash in 59.69.
Mackenzie DiDonato (Thomaston, Conn.) and
Kristina Kyle (Watertown, Conn.) produced seventh place finishes in their respective events as DiDonato clocked a 1:09.72 in the 400-meter hurdles, while Kyle clocked a 2:20.35 in the 800-meter run.
Audrey Jankovich (Berlin, Conn.) also clocked a time of 5:17.54 in the 1,500-meter run.
Couchon, Brillo,
Taylor Gibson (Billerica, Mass.) and
Natalia Marchand (Hubbardston, Mass.) registered a first place finish in the 4x400-meter relay in 4:02.88, the second fastest time in the conference this spring.
In the field events,
Samantha Paul (Albany, N.Y.) and
Jillian Scott (Westhampton, Mass.) recorded first place finishes in their respective events as Paul leapt 11.79-meters in the triple jump, while Scott cleared 3.40-meters in the pole vault tying the school record. Paul's mark is the tenth best mark in Division III this season and the second best among those in the conference this spring.
Bailey McDevitt (Wakefield, Mass.) took third in the javelin with a toss of 32.81-meters,
Elizabeth Lewelling (Palmdale, Calif.) registered a mark of 5.10-meters for third in the long jump,
Autumn Bacik (Watertown, Conn.) cleared 1.56-meter for fifth in the high jump,
Madilynn Van Etten (Cumberland, R.I.) posted a mark of 41.22-meters for fifth in the hammer and
Charlotte Gerow (Tolland, Conn.) posted a mark of 33.34-meters for sixth in the discus. Gerow also took fourth in the shot put with a mark of 11.29-meters, while Bacik leapt 5.01-meters for fourth in the long jump.
Springfield will travel to Mount Holyoke College for the 2025 NEWMAC Championships on April 25-26.
