Four From Men's Tennis Named to College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team

Springfield, Mass. – June 24, 2025 - The Springfield College men's tennis program had four student-athletes honored for their academic and athletic excellence by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) as they were all named to the 2025 CSC Academic All-District Men's Tennis Team.

The quartet of Tatsuya Kimoto (Yamaguchi, Japan)Angelo Guzman (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.)Ethan Gomulka (San Bernardino, Calif.) and Marc Villanueva Abad (Barcelona, Mexico) garnered the regional academic honor, which was selected by College Sports Communicators and recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Kimoto, a marketing major with a 3.82 grade point average, produced ten wins in singles play and nine wins in doubles play during the 2024-25 academic year. He also registered four wins in both singles and doubles in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchups this season.

Guzman, a health science major with a 3.82 grade point average, notched 11 wins in singles play and ten victories in doubles play during the 2024-25 academic year. He also registered four wins in singles and five wins in doubles in NEWMAC matchups this season.

Gomulka, a sport management major with a 3.96 grade point average, produced 11 victories in singles action as a junior and went 6-1 in NEWMAC contests only falling to nationally-ranked MIT over the course of the regular season.

Villanueva Abad, a sport management major with a 3.97 grade point average, registered seven wins in singles play and nine wins in doubles action during the 2024-25 academic year. He went 5-2 in singles action and 3-4 in doubles play during the NEWMAC slate this season.

These four student-athletes helped the Springfield College men's tennis team to an overall record of 13-4 tying the program record for most wins in a season and once again reached the NEWMAC semifinal round in the postseason under the direction of head coach Tanner DeVarennes.
