Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy – February 16, 2026 – Springfield College's Kelly Curtis '12 concluded competition in the skeleton at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games this weekend as she represented Team USA in two different events at Cortina Sliding Center.
Curtis began her weekend in the women's individual skeleton competition and produced a 12th place finish and was the top finishing American in the event with a four-run time of 3:52.13, just a total of less than three seconds out of medal contention. Curtis also bettered her finish in the event by nine places from her appearance at the 2022 games when she placed 21st in Beijing.
Then on Sunday, Curtis competed in the mixed team final alongside Daniel Barefoot. This was the first time in Olympic history that this event was contested as both Barefoot and Curtis had one run down and combined their times for a final score. Curtis clocked a 1:01.30, while Barefoot notched a 1:00.13 to finish tenth out of 15 teams and were just 2.07-seconds out from the podium.
During her time on Alden Street, Curtis was a decorated track and field student-athlete for the Pride. She won the 2011 Penn Relays in the heptathlon and was a three-time NCAA Division III All-America in the multi-events, as well as a two-time New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Athlete of the Year honoree.
