Tickets On Sale For Wednesday's NEWMAC Basketball Tournament Quarterfinals

Springfield, Mass. – February 24, 2026 – The Springfield College men's basketball and women's basketball teams have earned spots in tomorrow's New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) quarterfinal rounds.

Men's basketball (10-15) secured the fifth seed and will travel to fourth-seeded Wheaton (15-10) in Norton, Mass. at 7:00 pm as women's basketball (15-10) snagged the fifth seed and will travel to fourth-seeded MIT (14-11) in Cambridge, Mass. at 7:00 pm.

Through a partnership with the NEWMAC Office and Hometown Tickets, fans can purchase tickets digitally before arriving at the field online at: https://newmacsports.com/sports/2023/10/17/ticket%20box%20office.aspx

The NEWMAC encourages fans to purchase their mobile tickets in advance of the event to streamline the entry process on game day. Spectators may purchase their mobile tickets online on site but no cash option will be available. General admission tickets will cost $10 for anyone attending who is over the age of 12. Children under 12 and NEWMAC students with a valid institutional ID are free and do not need to purchase a mobile ticket.

Tickets will be scanned at the venue approximately 90 minutes prior to the start of each contest on Thursday evening.

Springfield men's basketball and Wheaton will meet in the postseason for the first time since 2017 and for the seventh time in program history on Wednesday night - in those seven matchups, the Pride hold a 4-3 edge. Earlier this season, Springfield dropped both games to the Lyons but their second meeting saw a tight game with both teams even at 30 the halftime break as Wheaton went on to outscore the Pride a small margin of five points.

Springfield women's basketball and MIT will meet in the postseason for the second consecutive season and for the second time in a week in Cambridge. In last year's quarterfinal, the Engineers defeated the Pride, 70-65 in overtime, en route to an appearance in the conference championship match at Smith. Earlier this season, MIT beat the Pride 51-49, but this time the winner will either meet top-seeded Smith or eighth-seeded Emerson in Friday's NEWMAC semifinal game. Springfield is 1-3 in postseason meetings against the Engineers with the lone victory coming in 2016.

The winners of both contests will advance to NEWMAC semifinal matches. The winner of Wednesday's men's basketball contest will play top-seeded WPI, while the winner of Wednesday's women's basketball match will play either top-seeded Smith or eighth-seeded Emerson – both matches will take place at the highest remaining seed.
