Orlando, Fla. – March 19, 2026 – The Springfield College women's tennis team fell to Trinity (Conn.), 4-3, in its final match in Florida this afternoon.
Springfield is now 3-3 on the season and will return home to host Wheaton College in the team's NEWMAC opener on March 28. Springfield has ten contests left in the regular season – eight NEWMAC matches – and two non-conference matches against St. Joe's Connecticut and Western New England in April.
Trinity started off tonight's match strong winning the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3.
Peyton Gaudreau (Branford, Conn.) and
Ava Shea (Belchertown, Mass.) held the Bantams from sweeping all three doubles contests as they topped Naisha Rathi and Hellena Trojer, 6-3, at No. 2.
Springfield attempted to rally in singles play and was victorious at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3, but Trinity won the three matches as the bottom of the lineup to hold off the Pride, 4-3. Gaudreau won 7-6, 6-2 at No. 1 over Allie Francis,
Kapom Vettayawaikoon (Phuket, Thailand) won 7-5, 6-3 at No. 2 over Rathi and
Erica Jud (Glen Head, N.Y.) won 7-6, 6-2 at No. 3 over Kendall Cedar.
The Bantams won the final three matches in straight sets with the closest contest coming at No. 4 as Emilia Romano clipped
Alysa Elliott (Gros-Islet, Saint Lucia), 7-5, 6-4.
