Box Score Springfield, Mass. - March 28, 2026 - The Springfield College women's tennis team defeated Wheaton (Mass.) in its New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener on Saturday afternoon, 6-1.
Springfield improves to 4-3 overall and opens up NEWMAC play at 1-0 while Wheaton drops to 6-5, 1-1.Â
The Pride swept all three doubles matches this afternoon. Kapom Vettayawaikoon (Phuket, Thailand) and Natalia Peyón (Discovery Bay, Hong Kong) picked up a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles before Peyton Gaudreau (Branford, Conn.) and Ava Shea (Belchertown, Mass.) clipped Asia Hollis and Lila Haraj-Sai, 6-1, at No. 2. Erica Jud (Glen Head, N.Y.) and Alysa Elliott (Gros-Islet, Saint Lucia) took home the 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles.Â
Springfield won five of its six singles matches as Gaudreau defeated Kara Greenlee at No. 1 singles by scores of 6-2, 6-3 before Vettayawaikoon took the win at No. 2 by scores of 6-1, 6-3. Jud beat Alissa Ortiz at No. 3 by scores of 6-3, 6-2 before Elliott got the win at No. 4 and Kelly McGoldrick (Monroe, N.Y.) got the win at No. 5, both by scores of 6-4, 6-1. Amelie Robinson won it at No. 6 singles for the Lyons lone point of the match.Â
Springfield will head to Wellesley tomorrow for a 12:00 pm match.
