Williams Topples Men's Swimming and Diving

Williamstown, Mass. - November 20, 2016 - The Springfield College men's swimming and diving team was defeated by host Williams College on Sunday afternoon by the score of 189-85.

The Pride, which was competing for the second time this weekend after a tri-meet with Keene State and Wheaton on Saturday, was led by Austin Von Heeringen (Germantown, Md.), who placed third in the 100 free in 51.30, and took fourth in the 1,000 free with a 10:18.35.

Erik McKenna (Stamford, Conn.) touched third in the 100 back in 55.96 and finished fourth in the 200 back 2:06.29, while Kyle Bauer (Bath, Maine) earned second-place points in the 100 breast with a 1:07.59 and was third in the 200 breast after a 2:30.32.

In the 50 free, Evan Oemcke (Waterbury, Conn.) sprinted to a fourth-place finish in 24.89.

On the three-meter board, Valmore Stewart (Windsor, Conn.) finished third after registering a 197.85 and later took third on the one-meter with a 201.82.

Springfield will next compete in the Ithaca Invitational, which will be held December 2-4.
