Babson Park, Mass. – October 16, 2010 – Sophomore Eric Anderson scored three goals to lead the Babson College Beavers to a convincing 6-1 victory over the visiting Springfield College Pride in a New England WomenÂ's and MenÂ's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) menÂ's soccer tilt at Hartwell-Rogers Field on Saturday afternoon.

With the victory, Babson upped its record to 9-3-1 overall and 2-0-2 in league play, while the Pride fell to 9-5-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the conference.

  Babson built a 3-1 lead in a high-scoring first half. The Beavers netted the gameÂ's first goal in the opening minutes of the game, as Anderson scored on a rebound of senior Ian SiekmanÂ's shot off a corner kick at 2:19. The Beavers then made it 2-0 in the 31st minute, as sophomore Josh Danesh took a breakaway feed from classmate Justin LeBlanc and tucked a shot inside into the lower right corner at 30:39.

Springfield got on the board less than six minutes later, as first-year Drew Vanasse gathered a failed clear in the box and ripped a shot into the lower right corner to make it 2-1 at 36:14. However, the Beavers would strike again soon after, as sophomore Ayo Iwuagwu redirected a cross from first-year Ben Pasquariello inside the left post to give the hosts a 3-1 advantage at 37:53.

  Babson continued to pour on the offense with three more goals in the second half, beginning when sophomore Brandon Masterson beat a defender on the left side and lofted a cross into the box. Pasquariello then headed it over sophomore keeper Chris Walton and into the upper right corner for his teamÂ's fourth goal of the game at 71:36.

  The Beavers scored again at the 76-minute mark, as Anderson took a breakaway pass from Danesh on the left side and fired a shot past a charging Walton at 76:01. Anderson then completed the hat trick with his third goal of the game on a similar breakaway, this time from first-year Mike Fisher, at 82:44.

  Crowley finished with three saves in 85 minutes of action for Babson, while Walton made seven stops in net for Springfield.

The Pride will turn right around and play again on Sunday when it travels south to take on Trinity College at 3:00 pm.
