Springfield, Mass. – November 17, 2012 – The Springfield College men’s swimming and diving team split a tri-meet on Saturday with Keene State and Wheaton at the Art Linkletter Natatorium. The Pride cruised by Wheaton, 235-63 and dropped a 169-129 decision to Keene State.
In the men 1000 yard freestyle, Springfield sophomore Phillip Murphy won the event with a time of 10:19.05. Michael Normoyle won the 200 yard menÂ's breaststroke with a time of 1:01.10.
Members of the Springfield menÂ's team finished second through fifth in the 200 yard butterfly. Tim Ramos, Pat Geraghty, John Vatkevich, and Benjamin Ernst finished in that order for the Pride.
Kenny Pancoast, and Jack Lewis took the top two scores in the three-meter diving event with national qualifying scores of 304.80 and 293.55.
Normoyle gave the Pride another solid performance in the menÂ's 200 yard breaststroke as he won the event with a time of 2:14.95. Murphy, Vatkevich, and Geraghty then took second, third and fourth for the Pride in the men 500 yard freestyle.
Pancoast, Lewis, and Dalton Crantek were able to capture the first through third places in menÂ's one meter diving, with Pancoast winning the event with a national-qualifying score of 313.30.
