Box Score Clermont, Fla. - March 16, 2016 - The Springfield College men's lacrosse team dropped a 13-5 decision on Wednesday afternoon at the National Training Center in its lone game of its Florida spring break trip.
Bowdoin improved to 2-1 on the year, while Springfield dropped its fourth-straight contest to fall to 1-4.
Brendan Dooley (Setauket, N.Y.) led the Pride with two goals and an assist in the loss, while Chris Santaniello (West Springfield, Mass.) was tagged with the loss after giving up 10 goals in just over 34 minutes of play.
The Pride opened with the game's first marker on a Tim Cozens (Ridgefield, Conn.) strike just 1:56 into the contest. The goal was assisted by Dylan Sheehan (Massapequa, N.Y.). The Polar Bears answered with four unaswered goals to take a 4-1 lead after the first quarter.
Dooley buried an unassisted strike to begin the second quarter and the Pride was within 5-3 with 3:09 left in the half after Ty Daugstrup (Rocky River, Ohio) finished a Dom Abate (Beverly, Mass.) feed. However, Bowdoin closed the half with two more goals to earn a 7-3 cushion at the half.
The Polar Bears began the second half with four-straight goals in the first 5:05 to blow open the contest. Springfield got as close as 11-5 on another unassisted goal by Dooley, only to have Bowdoin net the final two markers of the game to wrap up the 13-5 contest.
Springfield will return to play at home for the first time since February 24 when it begins a three-game homestand on Saturday versus Endicott. Faceoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
