Box Score Babson Park, Mass. - April 2, 2016 - Junior Tim Cozens (Ridgefield, Conn.) scored a man-up goal 1:00 into overtime as visiting Springfield College defeated Babson College, 10-9, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at MacDowell Field.
In a rematch of last year's NEWMAC Championship game, the Pride rallied from a one-goal deficit in the final minute of regulation to improve to 3-6, 1-0 in league play. Babson has now dropped five straight games and falls to 1-7 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
Cozens was one of four players to score twice for the Pride, which got two goals and one assist apiece from senior

Dom Abate (Beverly, Mass.).
Tyler Heckmann (Brookfield, Conn.) once again dominated the "X", going 17-of-20 face-offs and tied for game-high honors with nine ground balls.
Sophomore Axel Brown (Little Compton, R.I.) led all players with three goals, while classmate Austin Fabel (East Rockaway, N.Y.) scored twice for the Beavers. Junior Matthew Logan (Downingtown, Pa.) contributed a pair of assists, and sophomore Jack O'Donoghue (Scituate, Mass.) scooped up a nine ground balls. Junior Zach Cattaruzza (Guilford, Conn.) added six ground balls and caused a seven turnovers in the loss.
The teams traded a pair of first-quarter tallies before Springfield took the biggest lead of the game on back-to-back goals by Abate at 4-2 with 8:25 to go in the second quarter. The Green and White got within one on the first of Fabel's two markers 3:04 before the break, and then pulled even on Brown's man-up goal just under three minutes into the third period.
Brown converted a feed from senior Brendan Coan (Towson, Md.) to tie the game at 5-5 at the 7:19 mark of the third, and Babson followed a Sheehan tally with goals by sophomore Jason Cox (Westwood, Mass.) and Fabel in the final 28 seconds of the stanza to go back in front 7-6. Pride senior
Kevin Dean (Westhampton, N.Y.) tied the game with a man-up tally at 9:20 of the fourth, but the Beavers regained the lead 19 seconds later as senior Spencer Low (Natick, Mass.) scored following a scramble off the face-off to make it 8-7.
Springfield staved off a pair of Babson man-up chances and took advantage when Sheehan tied things up with 1:58 left in regulation. Sophomore goalie Jordan Shapiro (Pleasantville, N.Y.) came up with a huge save with just over a minute to go, and sophomore Taylor Segreti (North Potomac, Md.) scored in transition to put Babson back in front 9-8 with 48 seconds left. Springfield won the ensuing face-off and Dean notched the tying goal with 10.3 seconds remaining in regulation to force the extra session.
The Pride won the opening face-off of overtime and Cozens scored 23 seconds into a one-minute unnecessary roughness penalty on the Beavers.
Shapiro made seven of his 13 saves in the fourth quarter for Babson, while sophomore
Jake Reynolds (Scituate, Mass.) stopped nine shots for Springfield.
Springfield finished the game with a 45-34 edge in shots, won the ground ball battle, 44-34, finished with 34 ground balls and held Babson to 3-for-9 on man-up opportunities.
Springfield's next game will be a NEWMAC contest at Mass. Maritime on Saturday, April 9. Opening whistle is set for 1:00 pm.
