Worcester, Mass. - April 30, 2016 - The Springfield College softball  was eliminated from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship Tournament, as the Pride fell to Babson, 4-0, at Rooftop Field on the campus of WPI on Saturday afternoon.

A double elimination tournament, the Pride fell to Wheaton on Friday afternoon, 9-2, before suffering the 4-0 setback to Babson on Saturday. With the loss, Springfield closes its season with a record of 23-19.

Sophomore Talia Loda (East Haven, Conn.) took the circle for the Pride, and pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 10 hits, four runs, three of which were earned, while striking out one. Jordyn Moquin (Plantsville, Conn.) came on to get the Pride's final out, pitching 0.1 innings.

For the Beavers, Ali Reilly (New Canaan, Conn.) pitched a complete game six-hitter, picking up her 17th win of the year, while striking out four Springfield batters.

Loda also led the Pride at the plate, going 2-for-4, while Carianna Gasdia (Wakefield, Mass.), Jenna Webb (Harrison, N.Y.), Moquin and Mackenzie Navarro (Taunton, Mass.) all picked up hits for Springfield.

The Beavers used runs in the bottom of the third and fourth innings, including an RBI single from Annie Quine (Santa Monica, Calif.) to take a 2-0 lead, before adding a pair in the bottom of the sixth off the bat of Samantha Smith (Hillsborough, N.J.) as she poked a single to left center, plating a pair and giving Babson a 4-0 lead.

Reilly would come on in the top of the seventh and get the final three outs, knocking the Pride out of the tournament.
