Boston, Mass. - April 2, 2017 - The Springfield College softball team picked up a 7-1 win over Emerson in the first leg of its New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) doubleheader, and followed with a 10-1 win in game two on Sunday at Rotch Field. With the wins, the Pride pushed its win streak to ten games, the longest streak the program has seen since the 2003 season.

The Pride, which was ranked No. 24 in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) National Poll, is now 15-1 overall and 4-0 in NEWMAC play, while Emerson is 4-13 on the season, and 0-2 in conference.

Up next, Springfield College will take on WPI on Monday, April 3 at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Springfield College 7, Emerson 1 -- Game One

The Pride, which won the game 7-1, received RBI from six different student-athletes. Freshman Meghan Sastram (Oxford, Conn.) led the group with two RBI, while Talia Loda (East Haven, Conn.), Carianna Gasdia (Wakefield, Mass.) and Alexyss Conley (Bloomingburg, N.Y.) all drove one batter in apiece.

Loda took the circle in game one and earned her eighth win of the year as she pitched a complete game, giving up just five hits and striking out six.

Emerson scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first when Kodie Cash (Big Bear City, Calif.) scored on a passed ball. Springfield College responded in the top of the second with four runs, including a two-run double from Sastram to give the Pride a 4-1 lead.

Springfield College tacked on three more runs in the top of the seventh, as Loda drove home Gabby Alfieri (Cornwall, N.J.) with a single, before Allie Wheeler (Agawam, Mass.) followed suit with an RBI single of her own to score Loda. Later in the inning, Conley grounded out to second, but Kirsten Drobiak (Griswold, Conn.) was able to cross home to seal the 7-1 win.

Springfield College 10, Emerson 1 -- Game Two

Drobiak continued her impressive play at the plate in game two as the junior notched four RBI to help the Pride to a doubleheader sweep of Emerson on Sunday.

Sophomore Shelby Allen (Oakland, N.J.) took the circle in game two, and pitched 2.0 innings, giving up just three hits,, while Nicole Cring (Cooperstown, N.Y.) came on to pitch 3.0 innings, allowing one hit while striking out a pair to pick up her third win of the season.

Drobiak went 2-for-4 with four RBI, while Sam Cox (Longmeadow, Mass.) went 2-for-2 at the plate and scored a pair of runs.

Springfield College picked up three in the first inning, including an RBI double from Wheeler, before Drobiak drove in a pair to highlight a four-run second inning for the Pride.
