Springfield, Mass. - October 19, 2019 - The Springfield College field hockey team scored the final four goals of the game to pull out a 4-1 victory over Wellesley in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play at Stagg Field on Saturday. 

The win boosted Springfield's record to 8-6, 2-3 in conference play, while the Blue evened its record to 7-7, 3-3. 

For the game, Taylor Low (Longmeadow, Mass.) was credited with three assists in the win, while Taylor Conley (Yarmouth Port, Mass.) scored twice.  Elizabeth Morehouse (North Attleboro, Mass.) made five stops in a game where the Pride owned an 18-9 edge in shots. 

Wellesley's Janelle Sullivan totaled nine saves in the loss and Carson Dennis scored the visitors lone goal. The Blue held a 6-3 cushion in penalty corners on the afternoon. 

Springfield controlled much of the possession in the opening half and took all 10 the game's shots.  The Pride's best opportunity came at the 22:11 mark as Conley blistered a shot onto cage that was initially saved.  Low collected the rebound in front of a wide open net, only to have Sullivan sprawl and reach back and get her stick on the ball to keep the game scoreless. 

Just over five minutes into the third, Wellesley would break through for the game's first goal when Dennis took a feed from Danielle Brubaker on a penalty corner and unleased a shot from 10 yards out that rattled off the backboard to make it a 1-0 game.

Springfield responded in a big way as the Pride put together a pair of strikes just 24 seconds apart to regain the lead for good.  Conley got the burst started when she muscled in a shot along the goaline at 37:54 before Audrey Bresciano (Greenfield, Mass.) picked a Low pass out of the air and redirected it for the eventual-game winning strike 24 seconds later.  

The Pride tacked on an insurance goal in the 49th minute when Conley deflected in Low's bid towards cage, and Kyra Ashe (Longmeadow, Mass.) got into the scoring column when she calmly made the most of her one-on-one bid with Sullivan following a tremendous feed from Low with 1:10 remaining in regulation.

Springfield will continue its postseason push on Tuesday when it hosts Clark at 4:00 pm.
