Springfield, Mass. – October 23, 2019 – The Springfield College men's soccer team dropped to Brandeis University in a 2-0 non-conference matchup at Brock-Affleck Field on Wednesday afternoon.

The Pride now sit at 4-10-1 on the year. Brandeis improves to 9-3-4 on the season and. Each team rang out 15 shots in the contest. Springfield was awarded four corner kicks.

Midway through the first half, the Judges received offense from Max Breiter. At 21:33, Breiter finished off a one-on-one for the first strike, then, struck again, at 24:50, with another goal off a rebound.

The Pride would look to respond with attempts from Aiden Casinghino (Brimfield, Mass.) after a corner, but it skipped just over the crossbar. At 42:54, the Judges were prepared to add to their 2-0 first half lead, as Adam Kulick turned the corner, but Clayton Knibbs (Madison, Conn.) made an incredible sliding stop. Knibbs finished with five saves in the game.

In the second half, Springfield again would look to cut into the lead with six shots on frame. At 83:51, Springfield was awarded a free kick from just outside the box, but it was defended by the Judges. At 77:40, Brandeis' Elias Norris attacked the Springfield box and rocketed a shot past Knibbs, but Timothy Brereton (Staten Island, N.Y.) made a sliding defensive save to keep the Judges off the board.

The Pride would make a push for a comeback, but the early goals from Brandeis kept the lead out of reach.

Springfield will return to NEWMAC play on Saturday, October 26 with a 12 pm matchup with WPI.
