Springfield, Mass. - November 6, 2021 - Competing in the Art Linkletter Natatorium for the first time in 651 days, the Springfield College men's swimming and diving team hosted MIT on Saturday and was bested by the score of 221-86.
Jonathan Chan (Hong Kong) was victorious in the 500 free with a winning time of 4:51.17, while Luca Brashear (Amherst, Mass.) won the one-meter board with a 278.92 and also was tops in the three-meter after earning a 292.43.
To start the meet, Springfield's 400 medley relay of Jordon McMillan (Trinidad), Antonio Anastasiades (Wakefield, Mass.), James Chan (Hong Kong), and Daniel Forsythe (East Providence, R.I.) combined to swim a 3:39.48.
Erik Jensen (Hainesport, N.J.) had a strong showing the 1,000 free as he produced a 10:15.59 to finish as the runner up, while Niko Duarte (Plymouth, Mass.) took fourth in the 200 free with a 1:52.16. McMillan placed second in the 100 back in 55.41 and Jonathan Chan posted a 1:03.37 in the 100 breast. James Chan finished the 100 fly in 51.95 and completed the 200 fly in 1:56.94, which was later followed by Dominic Marco's (Bath, Maine) time of 22.19 in the 50 free and 2:07.58 in the 200 IM.
In the final event of the afternoon, James Chan, Forsythe, Jensen, and Marco took third in the 200 free relay in 1:27.50.
Next up for the Pride will be a tri-meet with Wheaton and Keene State on November 13.
