Springfield, Mass. - April 17, 2021 - The Springfield College men's lacrosse team was upended by Babson College, 15-5, in a New England Men's and Women's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) clash on Saturday night. 

Springfield was done in by 27 turnovers on the night as the Pride went 15-for-26 on clears.  Babson owned a 41-29 edge on shots while the Pride held a 43-39 cushion in ground balls as Springfield won 12-of-23 face offs. 

Riley Burgmeyer (Somers, Conn.) netted two goals and Zac Schuette (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) handed out a pair of helpers.  Connor Dubzinski (West Rutland, Mass.) picked up six ground balls and Jack Hamilton (Falmouth, Mass.) tallied eight stops between the pipes.  

After Babson opened up the scoring just 1:16 into the contest, a man-up strike from Burgmeyer and an unassisted marker from Jackson Lane (Shrewsbury, Mass.) at the 8:37 mark gave the Pride a 2-1 edge.  The Beavers would close out the frame with three unanswered goals to head into the second with a 4-2 edge.

Springfield would make it a one-goal game when Kevin Tierney (Glastonbury, Conn.) got his hands free for an unassisted strike just under two minutes into the second. However, Babson would respond with the next five goals to take a 9-3 lead at the half.

The teams each scored once in the third, with Burgmeyer burying a feed from Schuette with under four minutes to play as the Beavers held onto a six-goal lead entering the fourth. The hosts tacked on another five goals in the final stanza to pull away with the 15-5 triumph.
