Hartford, Conn. - January 28, 2022 - The Springfield College men's swimming and diving team picked up another victory on Friday night as it earned a 150-146 triumph over host Trinity College.
Owen Oldenburg (East Longmeadow, Mass.) Antonio Anastasiades (Wakefield, Mass.), Jonathan Chan (Hong Kong), and Dominic Marco (Bath, Maine) began the evening with a second-place time of 1:39.52 in the 200 medley relay.
James Chan (Hong Kong) would go on to have an impressive night and was victorious in the 1,000 free with a 9:49.82, swam the fastest time in the 100 free in 48.46, and took second in the 50 fly in 23.51. Anastasiades was also strong for the Pride and delivered first-place points in the 50 breast with a 27.64, was victorious in the 100 breast as he registered 1:01.29, and took third in the 100 IM in 56.75.
Jordan McMillan (Maraval, Trinidad and Tobago) placed second in the 50 free in 22.61 and later swam a 56.10 in the 100 back, while Jonathan Chan won the 100 fly after touching in 52.85 and took second in 4:58.38. Erik Jensen (Hainesport, N.J.) took second in the 200 free in 1:48.43, and in the 50 back Oldenburg posted a 25.47 to finish as the runner-up.
On the diving boards, Luca Brashear (Amherst, Mass.) won the three-meter competition with a 288.90, and Kaleb Osborne (Longmeadow, Mass.) scored a 252.97 on the one-meter en route to second-place points.
The Pride clinched the dual win with a victory in the 400 free relay as McMillan, Daniel Forsythe (East Providence, R.I.), Jensen, and James Chan powered their way to a 3:14.41.
On Sunday, Springfield will compete in their final dual meet of the season versus Amherst at 1 pm.
