Northampton, Mass. - February 25, 2022 - Three Springfield College men's divers wrapped up their appearances in the NCAA Division III Northeast Regional Championship at Smith College on Saturday afternoon.
For the second-consecutive day, Luca Brashear (Amherst, Mass.) was outstanding and took regional runner-up honors on the one-meter board with a score of 452.70. After placing second on the three-meter on Friday afternoon, Brashear had three dives where he was awarded at least 50 points on Saturday, including his 11th dive of a reverse 1 1/2 somersault 1 1/2 twist free that earned him a 53.3. Kobe Tray of Williams completed the regional sweep of the boards won the competition with a 470.65, while Colby's Samuel Cahaly took third with a 443.45.
Kaleb Osborne (Longmeadow, Mass.) had a standout meet as he took fifth in the regionals with a mark of 427.30, highlighted by his ninth-dive score of 49.2 that came on an inward 1 1/2 somersault pike. Sean Andrews (Framingham, Mass.) produced a 374.85 to finish in 10th.
13 divers from across the region were competing for a spot at the 2022 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, which will be held March 16-19 at the IUPUI IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Those who qualified for the natioanl event will be announced by the NCAA in the days to come.
