Springfield 5, Wellesley 1
Springfield took a 1-0 lead in the third inning as Alli Olsen (Ridgewood, N.J.) hit a double that toed the left field line and scored Mackenzie Doyle (Gloucester, R.I.), who had singled earlier in the inning and stole second to get in scoring position. The Blue drew the game to a 1-1 tie in the top of the fourth as the visitors posted three hits in the frame. Moniz knocked a double to get it started for Wellesley, before Sgambati singled to bring in Moniz and make it a 1-1 game. The bases were loaded with two outs after a walk, but the Pride stranded all three runners as Olsen scooped a grounder and flipped to Dana Serricchio (Stamford, Conn.) for the out to end the inning.
The Pride gained a separation in the bottom of the fifth with a bases loaded walk brought in Doyle, then up next was Kayla Stvan (Parlin, N.J.), who laid a double to the gap in left and cleared the bases to help Springfield improve its lead to 5-1. In the top of the sixth, Breannah McCann (San Diego, Calif.) converted an impressive double play for the Pride catching a line drive then firing to first to get the tag out, which kept the Blue hitless in the inning. In the final inning, the Pride forced the Blue into three straight outs to end the game with a 5-1 win.
Springfield 3, Wellesley 1
Emily Gell (Trumbull, Conn.) went seven innings for Springfield in the circle and only allowed three hits, one run, and collected four strikeouts in the victory.
The Blue took an early lead in the second inning as Moniz hit a lead off double to start the inning, before Sgambati scored Moniz two at bats later off a sacrifice fly to left to make a 1-0 game for Wellesley. Springfield wasted no time tying the game as an error scored Serricchio in the bottom of the third to even the game at 1-1. In the bottom of the fifth, Doyle punched a hit deep to center and nearly came away with an inside the park home run, however, settled for the triple early in the inning. Doyle was brought home at the next at bat as Olsen laid down a bunt and beat out the throw for the RBI single. Springfield loaded the bases as Callie Gendron (Berlin, Conn.) hit a single up the middle and Olsen scored on the next at bat to give Springfield the 3-1 lead and eventual final score.
