Albany, N.Y. – October 25, 2023 – The Springfield College field hockey team concluded non-conference play on Wednesday evening with a 4-2 triumph over Sage at the University at Albany. 

The Pride boosted its record to 8-9 with the victory as the visitors turned in 30 shots on the evening.  Hailey Gaydos (Newington, Conn.), who has scored the most goals of any first-year field hockey student-athlete in Division III so far this season, registered two markers to lift her season total to 15 and also tacked on an assist. 

In an opening quarter where the Pride ripped13 shots, Gaydos wasted no time scoring as she buried a feed from Kaelin Cerasuolo (Hampden, Mass.) at the 7:16 mark.  Just over three minutes later, Kaitlin Bardellini (Northfield, N.H.) got into the scoring action with an unassisted marker, only to have the hosts make it a one-goal game with six second remaining in the first.

A scoring burst the would have Springfield pump in a pair of strikes in a 2:37 span early in the second quarter put the game out of reach as the Pride's cushion grew to 4-1.  Emma McLaughlin (Norwalk, Conn.) converted a strike off a pass from Gaydos inside the opening minute of the quarter before Gaydos tacked on another goal as she found the back of the cage in the 19th minute.  Springfield would go into the half with three-goal edge as it held a 20-10 advantage in shots.

Neither team would score in the third and the Gators accounted for the game's final goal with less than two minutes remaining in regulation.  Remy Niland (Marshfield, Mass.) earned the victory for Springfield and made three stops on the night. 

The Pride wraps up the regular season on Saturday when it hosts Clark at 4 pm on Stagg Field.
