Brewster, Mass. – October 20, 2024 – Competing against a field filled with some of the top teams in New England, the Springfield College golf team finished 11th at the the 89th NEIGA Championships, played at the Captains Course on Cape Cod.  As a team, the Pride totaled 632 strokes over the two days to finish in the middle of the 22-team field. 

The Pride began the tournament with a first-round score of 307 on the Starboard course to sit in sixth place after the opening 18 holes before turning in a 325 on Sunday at the Port course.  

David Girouard (Chicopee, Mass.) had a sensational weekend to finish 11th out of the 113 players in the field as he posted a two-day total of 150 with a 74 and 76. Girouard had four birdies in his opening round en route to a two-over round, before a steady second-round which featured 13 pars to register a 76.  

Aidan Strebel (Branford, Conn.) was impressive as he had a 158 to tie for 42nd, highlighted by an opening round of 76 where he had three birdies and shot a one-under 35 on the front nine.  On Sunday, Strebel tallied nine pairs and two birdies for an 82. 

Amir Ardolino (Wilbraham, Mass.) was close behind with a 159 to tie for 46th.  Ardolino began the tournament with a 76 on Saturday thanks to an eagle on the par-five seventh and two birdies before an 83 on Sunday where he recorded a 39 on the back nine. 

The Pride's scores were rounded out by Justin Acquarulo (Branford, Conn.), who had a two-day total of 168 and Matthew Kumpulanian (Wilbraham, Mass.) who tallied a 174.  Acquarulo had 14 pars and three birdies over his 36 holes, while Kumpulanian posted 14 pars of his own.
