Cambridge, Mass. – February 10, 2024 – The Springfield College men's track and field team competed at both the Boston University Valentine Invitational as well as the MIT Gordon Kelly Invitational this weekend.
Gordon Kelly Invitational
First-year
Colin Hansen (Ipswich, Mass.) paced Springfield on the track at the Gordon Kelly Invitational as he placed first in the 400-meter dash in 52.22-seconds and second in the 200-meter dash in 23.32-seconds. Senior
Sam Polley (Feeding Hills, Mass.) took runner-up honors in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.41, while sophomore
Connor Joyce (Hampden, Mass.) crossed the line sixth in the event in 54.34.
The 4x400-meter relay ended the meet with a win as senior
Kyle Kemp (Cheshire, Conn.), Hansen, Joyce and first-year
Mike Anderson (Cromwell, Conn.) finished first in 3:37.47. Before the relay, Anderson finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.48-seconds.
Senior
Brady Cote (South Hadley, Mass.) finished third in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:26.33, while senior
Anthony Penta (Southington, Conn.) took fifth place in the 60-meter dash in 7.08-seconds.
Sophomore
Jamil Manu (Manchester, Mass.) paced Springfield in the field events as he placed fifth in the high jump with a best mark of 1.86-meters (6 feet, 1.25 inches) and eighth in the long jump with a best leap of 6.06-meters (19 feet, 10.75 inches). Sophomore
Daniel McGlashan (Haverhill, Mass.) took third in the triple jump with a mark of 12.87-meters (42 feet, 2.75 inches), while
sophomore Alex McKenney (Ossining, N.Y.) rounded out the highlights in the pole vault with a best clearance of 4.10-meters (13 feet, 5.25 inches).

Senior
Evan Weber (Purchase, N.Y.) was the fifth fastest Division III athlete in the 200-meter dash as he clocked a time of 21.87-seconds. Weber was followed by senior
Dante Lingley (Westbrook, Maine) in 22.02, junior
Anik Dole (Dubai, UAE) in 22.21 and junior
Giovanni Henrickson (Chelsea, Mass.) in 23.02.
Junior
Joe Wong (Salem, Mass.) paced the Pride in the 800-meter run as he clocked a time of 1:54.15 and was followed by first-year
Tyler Knaggs (Scotia, N.Y.) in 1:58.16 and graduate student
Adam Mula (West Townsend, Mass.) in 2:01.53.
Springfield will host the Triangle Classic next Saturday, February 17 at 10:30 am.
