Springfield, Mass. – February 6, 2024 – The Springfield College men's and women's cross country programs have been honored with the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's (USTFCCCA) Team Academic Awards for their hard work in the classroom this year.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.
Under the direction of head coach
Anna Steinman, the Springfield women's squad posted the third highest grade point average in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) with a mark of 3.72 only behind WPI and Emerson, which were tied at 3.81 and Smith at 3.79, while the Springfield men's cross country program registered the fourth highest grade point average in the NEWMAC with a 3.54 only behind Emerson (3.77), MIT (3.74) and Salve Regina (3.64).
