Attleboro, Mass. – November 1, 2025 – The Springfield College men's cross country team finished fifth overall at the 2025 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships on Saturday morning at Highland Park.
MIT won the championship title for the 27th consecutive season with 20 points and with all five scoring runners crossing the line in the top-eight. WPI finished second with 60 points, Babson took third with 83 points, Coast Guard finished fourth with 90 points and Springfield rounded out the top-five with 165 points.
Springfield's top finisher was
Gabe Schaeffer (Selinsgrove, Pa.), who crossed the line 38th overall in 27:25.4 and was quickly followed by
Harry Yablon (Bellport, N.Y.), Andrew Petropulos (Williamstown, Mass.),
Ty Sanges (Gloversville, N.Y.) and
Jeremiah Singer (Barnstable, Mass.) all finishing less than a minute apart and just 14 spots apart. Yablon posted a time of 27:37.2 to lead the pack of Pride runners.
Just outside of Springfield's top-five runners was
Jacob Merenda (Madison, Conn.), who clocked a 28:51.5,
Elijah Quinn (Holyoke, Mass.), who posted a time of 29:03.7 and
Slade Harding (Malden, Mass.), who posted a time of 29:10.7. Rounding out the NEWMAC Championship meet were
Ayden Collura (Rocky Hill, Conn.) in 30:25,
Matthew Lara (Haddam, Conn.) in 30:39,
Austyn Neidel (Glastonbury, Conn.) in 31:38.7 and
Matthias Cambi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) in 33:24.4.
Springfield will have next weekend off before heading to St. Lawrence University for the 2025 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships on November 15.
