Rochester, N.Y. – March 2, 2024 – The sprinters guided Springfield College men's track and field on the final weekend of competition prior to nationals as the Pride finished 11th overall at the AARTFC Championships.
Senior
Evan Weber (Purchase, N.Y.) posted a win the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.99-seconds that when converted for qualifying purposes sits 18th fastest in Division III this year and should get him to the NCAA Championships next weekend. Weber also paced Springfield in the 60-meter dash with a fifth place finish in 6.99-seconds.
Behind Weber in the 200-meter dash was junior
Michael Scott (Shoreview, Minn.) in 22.18, senior
Dante Lingley (Westbrook, Maine) in 22.33 and junior
Anik Dole (Dubai, UAE) in 22.64, while behind Weber in the 60-meter dash was Lingley in sixth (7.00), Dole in 12th (7.02), Scott in 18th (7.03) and senior
Anthony Penta (Southington, Conn.) in 7.12.
First-year
Mike Anderson (Cromwell, Conn.) placed ninth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.40 and sophomore
Jamil Manu (Manchester, Conn.) placed 15th in the long jump with a best leap of 6.51-meters.
At the Tufts Final Qualifier, junior
Joe Wong (Salem, Mass.) placed seventh in the 800-meter run in 1:54.01.
As of Saturday night, Weber's 200-meter dash time ranks 18th in Division III, while Scott's 60-meter dash time of 6.85 from the Bomber Invitational is 20th. Both will await word of potential berths to the NCAA Division III National Championships come selections on Sunday evening.
