Hartford, Conn. – April 20, 2024 – The Springfield College men's track and field team claimed the title at this year's Trinity College Invitational this afternoon. The Pride collected 132 points and won three different events placing them 39 points ahead of the host Bantams.
On the track,
Anik Dole (Dubai, UAE) individually won the 100-meter dash in 10.78-seconds, the 200-meter dash in 21.88-seconds and teamed up with
Evan Weber (Purchase, N.Y.),
Anthony Penta (Southington, Conn.) and
Dante Lingley (Westbrook, Maine) for first in the 4x100-meter relay in 41.73-seconds.
Weber,
Seth Regan (Killingworth, Conn.) and Lingley finished fourth (10.91), fifth (10.95) and sixth (11.02), respectively, in the 100-meter dash behind Dole, while Weber and Regan took third (22.01) and fourth (22.12) in the 200-meter dash.
Mike Anderson (Cromwell, Conn.) posted a runner-up finish in the 400-meter hurdles (56.16),
Isaiah Hannah (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) took fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.98),
Sam Polley (Feeding Hills, Mass.) finished fourth in the 400-meter dash (49.67) and
Tyler Knaggs (Scotia, N.Y.) earned a fifth place finish in the 800-meter run (1:57.47) to round out the highlights on the track for Springfield.
In the field events,
Jamil Manu (Manchester, Conn.) finished second in both the high jump with a mark of 1.92-meters and the long jump with a best mark of 6.36-meters, while
Daniel McGlashan (Haverhill, Mass.)finished as the runner-up in the triple jump with a best mark of 13.05-meters and third in the high jump with a clearance of 1.82-meters.
Behind McGlashan in the high jump was
Daniel Hyde (Monroe, Conn.) in fourth with a mark of 1.82-meters and
Daniel Torres (Springfield, Mass.) in fifth with a jump of 1.77-meters.
Alex McKenney (Ossining, N.Y.)rounded out the top-five finishes for Springfield as he took third in the pole vault with a best mark of 4.25-meters.
Springfield will return home to host the 2024 NEWMAC Championships on Friday and Saturday next week.
