Williamstown, Mass. – September 22, 2024 – The Springfield College golf team competed in the Williams Invitational over the weekend and took 18th as a team.
Competing at the Taconic Golf Club, the Pride produced 665 strokes in the 19-team field.
David Girouard (Chicopee, Mass.) had Springfield's top performance over the weekend with a two-round score of 161, which featured a 79 on Sunday. After an opening round score of 82 where he posted a pair of birdies, Girouard shot a 36 on the front and tallied 10 pars and two birdies in his second round.
Aidan Strebel (Branford, Conn.) broke into the Pride's lineup and totaled a 165 on the weekend. On Saturday, he shot a team-best 79 thanks to eight pars and two birdies as he carded a 38 on the front.
Matthew Kumpulanian (Wilbraham, Mass.), who was tabbed the MASCAC Rookie of the Week following his first debut last week, had back-to-back rounds of 85, while
Amir Ardolino (Wilbraham, Mass.) followed up his first-round 87 with an 83 on Sunday as he posted a 39 on the front
. Justin Acquarulo (Branford, Conn.) recorded a 175 on the weekend, including an 85 on Sunday following a 37 on the front.
Next weekend, Springfield will compete in the MASCAC Championships at The Ranch Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday.
